A Story That Needs To Be Told

So the other day I decided that it was about time to start Christmas shopping, I headed off into town. Hit up the classic stores...Walmart, Kohls, TJ Maxx and of course Target. Looking looking looking. Wondering what to buy and who to buy for.
Well this story originates in Walmart...I won't tell you what I was getting there or who I was buying for may give away the present but I will tell you that I was there. I decided on what I was buying and was going to check out.....well the lady that was helping me was a classic Walmart worker (doesn't apply to all Walmart employees) she was a little older, worn down, worn out, about three teeth missing in the front, horribly dyed hair, oh you know the worker I'm talking about....we've all ran into them at some point. Well now that you know what and who we're dealing with here on with the story. In line checking out....she's talking about all the stuff she does at home....another lady comes up and starts talking to her about how hard it is to find Christmas gifts for her kids. And I was like I hear ya lady, buying for my kids is hard!! (Disclaimer: I have no kids, it was a joke.) She slowly strolls on by, my helping lady starts talking about how it's not hard to buy for her, she already knows what she's getting a miter saw. So me being me I"m like oh really you must be pretty handy. She replies ,yeah I build bird feeders and bird houses....I also love to sew. I said well that must be nice for your husband knowing what to buy you all the time and also having an excuse to buy all the tools he wants. She says yeah I have a this saw and a that saw.....then looks at me with a pretty intense look and says but I watch out for my husbands table saw. Already got me once.....as she slowly raises her left hand.....which is missing half of a thumb.
Pretty great huh?!!? And unreal all at the same time. Needless to say I had a hard time holding back a chuckle....to second I got outta there though....the laughing started.

Staying On Track

Once again a few months have flown by....any writing in those months as you can see no...why you may ask...well I have been just a "little" busy. So here I am going to try and give you an update on what the heck has been going on.
First there is a little Olimb running around (well not running, sitting HA). His name is Asher William and he was born Oct 27th at 11:16pm 7lbs 13 ounces 20.5 inches. There are his stats...ha. So yeah true story....I am an aunt. An aunt. Craziness right there...straight up craziness. I will be going to see him for the first time the 2nd of Dec. So that will be fun I seriously know nothing about babies so that will be interesting but I will try. Funny story about that....you may not believe me but I literally know nothing about babies and what goes on with them or anything.....so here's the story J had called me and left a message in the middle of the night saying that Asher had been born and proceeds to tell me that he weighed 13lbs 14 ounces(his first kid,in the labor room forever, calling a lot of people, tired). So I"m like ok whatever.... I was at work so in the morning I was like oh my goodness my bro had a kid and there like how big....so I told them what he had told me and they were all amazed and like what that's a ginormous baby....... so yeah that's my story a few people thought for a couple of days that Asher was ginormous.
And going along those same lines I am going to be an aunt again and well again I guess....with Lance and Sarah. And if you can't figure out that last sentence that means that Lance and Sarah are pregnant and having twins. Yep you read that right TWINS!! Basically 2/5 of the starting five of a bball team!!! Oh yeah....nothing better!! We're not even from Minnesota and there having twins....wow that was bad huh....gosh. Basically going from no auntiness to having three to call my own... to many blessings...to many.
Secondly I really do have my own business and well what the stats say about that is that usually it takes a good 3-5 years before they are really up and running. I am seeing that...it is so roller coastery (not a word). One month your actually making a buck and the next month your struggling beyond belief. Needless to say it's just something you have to get used to....and makes you determined to work harder.
Thirdly my puppy well doesn't really look like a puppy anymore, she's pretty massive but is yet still a pup. I sometimes feel like she's a child locked in a bigger persons' body....how do I describe this.....oh well take this for maybe having it make sense... try a high school boy who has grown a ton and is trying to still figure out his body....long gangly....not coordinated. That's how I feel she is sometimes....

Why So Long?

Ok well first off I guess I just need to realize that it's been so stinking long since I last wrote....it's pretty crazy it's been like two months. With that said I will give you an update on my puppy since she was my last post....so here's an updated pic. She still wreaks havoc here and there....but overall is a pretty good puppy. Her favorite games would have to be fetch and tug-a-war. Also just for the record my parents were totally against me getting a dog...but let me be the first to tell you that they sure do love her.

Let's see since the last write in...I have done a little growing up....I opened my own business. Like what?? Yeah for sure....that's what I am thinking to.....am I old enough....mature enough to have my own business....geez I sure hope so. But yeah it's true...Main Street Manvel....Serenity Massage...you'll have to look me up.

What other news!!! Hmmm...I don't know if the world knows but I am going to be joining the ranks of the aunts here pretty soon. Yep Rach and J decided it was time to have a little Olimb running around this world.....cause we know it'll only help make the world a better place.

As far as me....and as far as right now....it's literally 4:58 am and you may be asking yourself what the heck is she doing up....and let me tell you I am thinking the exact same thing. Let me shed some light on that situation for you.... I have this little job we like to call overnight monitor and in most cases this job is the biz-omb....except for that rare occasion you have to stay up all night.....so that's where I sit right now....up all night...already made it through 5 hours since everyone went to sleep.....so I am fighting...fighting to stay awake. On top of that I have to drive to Roso tomorrow....now you may be thinking what is she thinking....I would sleep all day the next day if I had to stay up...and believe me I do and would like to....but my best friend is home for a bit....and I would like to think of myself as a pretty good friend.....so that's where I sit....stuck in between no sleep and seeing my friend.

Let me relate the whole staying up thing to you for a sec....ever had one of those nights where you just can't sleep...there's nothing in the world at that point that you want more....then to just sleep and you are constantly tossing and turning....huffing and puffing...thinking to yourself why am I not sleeping.....looking at the clock and just watching the precious minutes of sleep pass you by....well try having that same feeling but in the end you know you can't fall asleep, that you have to stay awake....but you still get the same feelings as above....along with literally watching the seconds tick by

Buzz?

Well I don't know if everyone knows... but on Sunday mornings I have the pleasure of working with 2 year olds during the Sunday school hour. My morning usually consists of playing with play-doo, herding the sheep and walking them up to sing classics such as, "Jesus loves me," "This little light of mine." You get the point. Then after that we head back downstairs to our room, try to group them up, have story time and then all out play time until parents arrive. A lot of people ask me if I really do enjoy working with 2 year olds and I am like yes for sure....gives me an excuse to act like I'm 2 which I enjoy. Another great thing is the fact that kids truly do say the darnest things. Here's a little story from Sunday. Along with the fun responsibilities I described earlier, I have the privilege of taking every kid to the bathroom, you know when they do the potty dance. Every kid is different when I get in there to, because I never know what they do at home, and how much there mom helps. Well on Sunday I took this kid into the bathroom and he put the seat up, took the pants down and did his thing. Afterwards though he didn't pull up his pants he just wanted to run around the bathroom with them down. So I was like ok buddy get over here....so I pulled up his underwear first. And he stuck out his butt towards me and said do you know who this is??? I was like of course that's Buzz Lightyear. And he just smiled and while still sticking his butt out....continued to say TO INFINITY AND BEYOND!!! Times like these help make up for all the other times when there are kids who won't stop crying the entire hour. What a great story!!!

Things Change

It is absolutely amazing how fast time goes by. I was just checking my blog here, looking at things, reading some old posts and just reminiscing. I can't believe that I haven't written in like a month. I thought I owed it to my readers (all three maybe four of you!! :)) to give a little update on life. A lot can surely happen in a month's time.
The oldest thing to happen is that I finally found I job, now that I think of it I may have already posted about that. Oh well, you can hear about it again. Things at the job have been going well, it sure is not a brain teaser kind of job, pretty lax, which can be nice at times along with being really boring. The participants help make things interesting every so often though, along with the fact that I work with some pretty neat people. I can not believe it but I am going on a little more then a month of working there. The next thing in order was probably the fact that I took my licensing test for massage, you may be thinking wasn't she already licensed, didn't she already graduate. Well the answer to the first question is no, I was certified, and the second question is yes, I did graduate but that doesn't mean that I am off and running right away.
Crazy times taking that test too. They allot you 3 hours to take this test which is comprised of 160 multiple choice questions. So here I go my straight face and steady beating heart into this room of about 12 computers and maybe 5 other people taking their own specifics tests. The man takes me to my little cubicle and says good luck. I proceed to go through my questions and get to the end, only to look at my watch and behold only 45 minutes have passed. Can this be right?? So yeah needless to say I sat there for a little while, finally mustered up the guts to hit the finish button, and was done. What a unreal test, 3 hours my butt. That can scare a girl, let me tell you.
Next thing in line from there, was finding out the great news that my oldest brother and sister in law are having a little kiddo!! Wha-hoo!! I am officially going to join the aunt club.
The question now is where do I go from here... with all that happening in a months time. Where to go, what to do, what to pursue. Wondering to myself if I build it will they come?? I guess focus on where I will try to play my cards in finding a place to open up, and go from there.

An Out Pouring Of Blessings

So it's been a little bit since I last checked in and wrote. Here I am going to give that update. First off you might have read a previous blog about my popcorn popping car. Well let me tell you what exactly happened with it. I wrote that I had taken it in, meaning to a dealership, and they had told me that in order to fix whatever it was that was wrong was going to cost me a pretty penny and by that I mean about 700 dollars. Instead of just taking the hit and being like whatever fix it, my parents and I stopped and took a minute or two to think about it. I brought it in on a Friday and we asked if they would keep it until Monday, when we would officially decide what to do with it. Meanwhile, we find out my grandpa knows a guy that does some side work on cars, so he called him up explained the situation and asked if he would mind taking a look at it. And from what the guy had heard if it was the shocks which is what the dealership had told me it was, he said that he could do it for probably around 400 or so. Sweet, 300 dollars off!! My g-pa was going to take me to pick up my car on Monday from the dealership and take it out to the guy. When I brought my car in on Friday, my back passenger side wheel was almost rubbing on the frame of the car. Now three days later it was sitting nicely on the back wheel, looking rather pretty. I then proceeded to follow my g-pa out to this guy's house and nothing seemed to be happening while I was driving. Long story short, the guy we brought it to said he saw nothing wrong, drove it and felt nothing wrong. Hmmmmm, pretty crazy huh. One day 700 dollars, three days later absolutely nothing. Blessing number one. ( Don't even ask me to explain my frustration with the dealership.)
Secondly I have been on a job search for probably the last two months, putting in my application place after place and getting no call backs. So recently I put in my application in at Pracs for a weekend overnight monitor position. This would absolutely be ideal for my situation at the moment, trying to get my business up and running. Being able to work weekend nights at Pracs, then during the week be able to run my business as usual. Well let me tell you, blessing number two. My first official nights were Friday and Saturday.
Oh and I quick number three I guess, my city league team won the Renee Thompson tourney this weekend!!

An Expensive Amusement Ride

Yesterday was a pretty amusing day, well amusing/pretty sad. The day started out making cookies, from there having some lunch with a buddy of mine and then meeting up with another buddy of mine for a movie. Sounds like I am popular, but don't let it fool you!! In between leaving lunch and going to pick up my other bud, something happened. I really don't know how to explain it, but so you can kind of get an idea or a picture in your head I will try. I was driving and all of the sudden I felt as though I was in a popcorn machine, constantly bouncing. This might help, remember watching Ace Ventura and he's driving along constantly bouncing, yet not on a bumpy road, that was basically me (although I was not trying to be funny.) My abs were hurting from trying to keep me upright along with the constant laughing that I was doing. (Yes I was by myself, literally dying laughing) So I called mom and in between laughs managed to ask if she had ever been in a car where the struts or the suspension went out. She was like no, why? So I explained myself.
While getting this all sorted out, I needed to pick up my bud. So I did. It came with a warning though I told her that she may feel as though she's in a popcorn popper. Well I really don't think that could give it enough justice. On our way to her house we laughed continuously, I told her well it's pretty much an amusement park ride for free. Wow, was I wrong.
Took the car in and found out it was the struts in the rear that had blown, and was going to be 700 dollars to fix. (p.s. my car isn't worth 700!!)
Moral of the story.... once in your life you need to have your struts blow!!

An Industrial Goodbye

The Spring of freshman year in college Los Angeles, is where I got it done. It was an event to say the least, started out being your average piercing, me and a couple of my track buddies. Ending up being a story in itself and my whole track team along with my coaches standing, watching. All with different feelings and expressions, the scale of emotions on view. Anywhere from being horrified to wonder. That's where it all started, it on a night in LA.
Here I am four years later still sporting it, until today. Today it is being laid to rest. It has gone from a conversation piece to a point where it pretty much screwed up my ear. On Monday I went and saw a doctor about it, about them really, both ears. She was semi stumped and referred me to a dermatologist. Although before leaving the office she made sure to get some pictures of these crazy looking things. These things called keloids. Let me just give you a brief history of what keloids are. They basically are a build up of scar tissue, more commonly found in black people. Which I guess explains my athletic ability along with my butt. Nothing life threatening, just hard on other peoples eyes.
The dermatologist's office is where I found myself yesterday morning. Face to face with a pretty old man (and by pretty I don't mean in looks) with a magnifying glass on his head, inspecting my ears. This lead to probably five to six pokes with a needle in each ear. He claims that this may help, but we'll see. Needless to say, industrial out. Goodbye.

Fun Times

So let's just say it was about that time to start maybe taking things seriously when it came to my fitness and working out. Approximately a week and a half ago, I started to work out every other day. Running/walking on the treadmill, adding in a few crunches and some stretching. Well after awhile I figured I needed to add another dimension to my workout, otherwise I would get bored and eventually possibly quit. What adds a little fun for a workout you may ask..... well let me tell you. Purchase a work out ball ( like the one on the right.) Not only will it help keep you motivated with all of the things you can use it for..... it will give you great entertainment. I would just like to take this minute right here to share with you the great entertainment that came from this ball.
Along with myself starting to workout my mother has also been watching what she's been eating and has also been using the treadmill. When I came home with the workout ball she was really interested in how you use it and what you use it for. So for the first couple of days I had it she was on me about showing her how to use it. Being the nice daughter that I am.... I sat down on the ball and showed her how to do a sit up on the ball. I explained as I went and then proceeded to show her a couple of sit-ups to make sure she knew what and how I was doing it. I then asked her you get it... you want to try it. And she shook her head yes. I got off the ball and then handed the ball over. Mom then slowly lowers herself onto the ball ( this is all going down in the living room). Takes a good stab at trying to do a sit-up... but no go. So I take my time this time and show her again how to do it....bracing yourself....basically doing a wall sit on it and then doing a sit up. I guess you could say the rest is history. What happened next I really don't know if I can tell in words but I will try to. Mom sat on that ball....started to lean back to do a sit-up and up went the legs.... she laid straight back on the ball...rolled back until her upper body was laying on the couch and her lower body was on the ball. And she couldn't get up....couldn't move... Stuck between the ball and the couch. Side note: Meanwhile dad and I are laughing hysterically and crying all at the same time.
Moral of the story........ buy a work out ball.
